Welcome to Kindergarten

Kindergarten is all day, Monday through Friday 7:50-2:20. School doors open at 7:30 am for breakfast. Free breakfast is available to all students in the cafeteria each morning. Students may walk down to their classroom at 7:40 am.

In general, children are expected to be five years of age on or before Sept. 1 in order to register for kindergarten. Parents/Guardians who are interested in early entrance to kindergarten should note the new policy set by the School Board in February of 2023. The process must begin by notifying the Director of Special Programs by June 16, and then providing results of a private evaluation of key areas.

Soft Start

First through fifth-grade students return to school the week after Labor Day. Kindergartners only come to school ONE day that first week. On that day, teachers and staff will get to know each child's motor, literacy, math, and expressive skills. Kindergartners will have the opportunity to learn about the school and important routines in a small group. You will sign up for your child's Soft Start date when you register for Kindergarten.

Class lists will be posted the Friday of Soft Start week. The first official day for kindergarten is the following Monday after all students have had their Soft Start day.

School Visits

Classroom visits are optional for incoming kindergarten students. School visits allow our staff to meet your child in a fun way and allow your child to see the school and a classroom. Staff will bring a large bag of educational activities that include books, games, letter magnets, and more for your child to keep.

Please contact kindergarten teacher, Kelcie Frasier if you are interested in a school visit.
