Distance Learning

We are excited to get the 2020-21 school year underway. At Aumsville Elementary, we will begin the year with Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) or Online Only. This page contains information specific to Aumsville, and what distance learning will look like for our students.

Teachers will be sharing details about what a typical day will look like for students. A sample schedule can be found here.

SchoolsPLP
We are using SchoolsPLP for our curriculum. SchoolsPLP has the same instructional standards that we teach when students are in person at Aumsville. Our staff spent two weeks prior to the start of the school year, learning about SchoolsPLP, navigating the curriculum, and planning lessons.

SchoolsPLP Webpage (Once you have arrived at the login screen, please bookmark the web address. It is finicky and must be typed exactly. If you ever cannot log in, please try retyping the entire web address again.)

During the first week of school, your student's homeroom teacher will share login information with you and your child. Teachers will walk parents and students through the program and will be available to answer any questions regarding SchoolsPLP.

Attendance
We will be taking attendance each day. Students must connect with their teachers within a 24-hour period to be counted as present. This connection can be via attending a video conference, completing an online activity, by emailing/calling the teacher, or if a parent makes contact with the teacher by phone or email. If your student does not connect with each teacher, we will mark them absent. You can excuse these absences by calling 503-749-8040.

Elective Classes
We will be offering elective classes in the afternoons.  Electives are offered on a four-week rotation. For example, in the first four weeks of the school year Mrs. Hawkins offered a workout club, during the next four weeks, she will offer a cardio drumming club. Electives will be updated every four weeks with new offerings. We will share a new sign-up opportunity when it gets closer to a new set f electives.

Mrs. Kroker put together a book club slideshow which is linked below.  This round of book clubs begins on November 9. Look through the slideshow to sign up for which book clubs you would like to join.

PE clubs and music club sign-ups are also available. In this round of electives, Mr. Steenslid is offering a jumping club and Mrs. Hawkins is teaching cardio drumming. Maestro will be doing another session of beginner keyboarding as well as adding an intermediate keyboarding. Click the link below to sign up for a PE or music club. Please note, you must be logged in to your Cascade School email address to access the sign-up form.
