Move-A-Thon

Money and pledge envelopes are due by October 10th. Please turn them into the office or to teachers. This is the fund that pays for all our fun events throughout the year: field trips, carnivals, movie nights, prizes, etc. Help us reach our goal of $10,000!

Walk, Bike, & Roll to School

The Aumsville Fall Bike/Walk to School Day is coming up Wednesday, October 15th. Kinder is not participating in this event.
Permissions slips went home this week. If students are not biking, they will be going on a walk. The permission slip is two sided, one side has walking and one side has biking. Please reiterate to students that they need to pick ONE of the options. If students do not bring a permission slip, they will take their walk within the fence on campus. EVERYONE is invited to participate whether they bring a permission slip or not. Bikes are the only thing they are allowed to ride! No scooters, longboards, etc. Helmets and PE shoes are required for the bikers and a good idea for the walkers. Here is the schedule for the day:

  • 7:30-8:00: Eat breakfast and go to class as usual
  • 8:00-8:45: All 3-5 students are dismissed to their Bike or Walk spot.

**Bike riders go to the shed to get their bikes and begin staging in the bus lanes. Then begin the ride to the firehouse, down main street, and then back to Aumsville.
**Walkers will line up along the bus lane to send the riders off, then will begin their walk. Walkers will walk around the Aumsville neighborhood and back.

  • 9:00-9:45: All 1-2 students are dismissed to their Bike or Walk spot.

**Bike riders go to the 3-5 gym to get their bikes and begin staging in the bus lanes. Then begin the ride around the residential streets near Aumsville in a continuous loop.
**Walkers will line up along the bus lane to send the riders off, then will begin their walk. Walkers will walk around the Aumsville neighborhood and back.
We will be riding down Main Street. This has always been the highlight of the ride. Family members are welcome to join us!

Thank you for helping us honor our local hero's!

We Love To Read

Each month a reading calendar will go home to encourage students to read. October's calendar has gone home in red folders. They are also below if needed. Research has shown that reading to or with children at a young age can increase academic achievement and cognitive function as well as decrease stress, depression and behavioral issues as they grow.

Suggested time limits to read:
  • K-1: 15 minutes per night
  • 2-3: 20 minutes per night
  • 4-5: 30 minutes per night

Fill out each day on the calendar with amount, then at the end of the month, total it up, sign it and send it to teachers. Students will be given a special token to use in the book vending machine each month!
