School Zone Flashing Light

One of our school zone flashing lights was forcibly removed by the powerful wind last week. It will be replaced soon but in the meantime, a temporary sign will be posted for the 20 mph from 7:00-5:00. Thank you for understanding while it is being fixed.

Sign Up to help at the upcoming Book Fair

We are looking for volunteers before and after school to help at the Book Fair from Nov 3 - 7. We have many options to help run the registers, help students shop, and monitor students.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day is coming up on November 11th. There will be no school that day in observance.

We will be hosting Veteran volunteers to come read books to classrooms on Wednesday, November 12th. Please contact Katy Ranzoni at kranzoni@cascade.k12.or.us or 503-749-8040 x4702 if you are interested in joining.
We are updating our Hero board with new pictures. If you would like yourself or a family member to be added, please bring or send in a quality photo to the office. Please include Name, Branch of Service, and how they are related to someone at the school.

Safer, Smarter Kids

AES Parents,

In 2015, the Oregon legislature passed SB 856, also known as Erin’s Law. Erin’s Law requires the development and adoption of child sexual abuse prevention programs for K-12 students in all Oregon public schools. The curriculum used at Aumsville Elementary to meet SB 856 requirements is called “Safer, Smarter Kids”. This developmentally-appropriate abuse prevention curriculum will arm your child with the necessary skills to help avoid sexual abuse and access help if they are ever victimized.

These lessons will be taught by Mrs. Delamarter for students in grades 1-3 and Mr.Nelson for students in grades Kindergarten and 4-5. The first lesson will be taught in the second or third week of November, with lessons concluding after 4-6 consecutive weeks. (# of lessons varies by grade level)

If you would like to opt your student out of these lessons for any reason, please notify their classroom teacher before 011/07/25.

Reminders for Cold and Flu Season

We are going into the Cold and Flu Season and have already had some cases of common contagious diseases.

Wash your hands and have kids wash their hands often
Frequently clean and disinfect high contact surfaces in your work areas
Avoid close contact with others.

The following is a reference guide for students to be sent home, stay home and when to return to school. If you have any questions, please call the school nurse.
