Youth Truth Survey

Dear Families,
Your voice matters. We are inviting you to participate in the YouthTruth Family Survey (https://youthtruth.org) to help us understand and improve school experiences.
The YouthTruth Survey is used by hundreds of schools and districts nationwide to gather perspectives on what's working well and what could be better. The survey asks about experiences on topics like school engagement, relationships with teachers, and academic rigor.
Not only is participation entirely voluntary, but you can skip any question you don't want to answer. There are no right or wrong answers—we simply want to hear honest perspectives.
Our school will use this feedback to guide improvements that make school better for all. We may also contribute anonymous, overall results to research that helps improve education nationwide.
The survey is open until November 21st.
Thank you for your feedback!

ELKS Hoop Shoot

This coming week in PE with Mr. S, students that have already signed up, will compete to represent Aumsville in this year's Elks Hoop Shoot competition. Monday will be a practice day where the students will have a chance to work on their shooting skills. Tuesday and maybe Wednesday will be competition day where the students will shoot for the right to represent Aumsville. We will have 4 winners, a 8-9 year old boy and girl, plus a 10-11 year old boy and girl.

If your child is a winner, the lodge round will take place on Sunday, December 14th in Mt. Angel. Mr. S will give you more details.

Safer, Smarter Kids

AES Parents,

In 2015, the Oregon legislature passed SB 856, also known as Erin’s Law. Erin’s Law requires the development and adoption of child sexual abuse prevention programs for K-12 students in all Oregon public schools. The curriculum used at Aumsville Elementary to meet SB 856 requirements is called “Safer, Smarter Kids”. This developmentally-appropriate abuse prevention curriculum will arm your child with the necessary skills to help avoid sexual abuse and access help if they are ever victimized.

These lessons will be taught by Mrs. Delamarter for students in grades 1-3 and Mr.Nelson for students in grades Kindergarten and 4-5. The first lesson will be taught in the second or third week of November, with lessons concluding after 4-6 consecutive weeks. (# of lessons varies by grade level)

If you would like to opt your student out of these lessons for any reason, please notify their classroom teacher before 011/07/25.

Respectfully,
Andrew Nelson, School Counselor
Cindy Delamarter, Child Development Specialist
