What is an Ofrenda?

It's a decorated space to remember and honor family members, loved ones, and friends who have passed. Ms. Everitt's Cascade Junior High School Spanish class made one in the doorway of her classroom to honor Dia de los Muertos, the day of the dead.

Some of the ones remembered are beloved Cascade teachers.

On Wednesday, two afterschool clubs met at Aumsville Elementary: Panther Club and News Crew!

Panther Club is a leadership group. Students have to apply, and get their parent, a teacher, and someone else in the building to sign for their support. They work on assemblies and other ways to make a difference in the school This week, they learned what they will do to support the Thanksgiving Food Drive.

News Club is the group that produces the student newspaper. They learn writing and interview skills, and then work throughout the year producing the paper.

Each of these groups meets twice a month, and each teaches skills and builds relationships that make a difference!

Host a Foreign Exchange Student From Spain

Hola!

We are teaming up with Andégo Internships Abroad to welcome a small group of Spanish teens (8th & 10th graders) in Oregon from Gredos Schools in Madrid, Spain for about 4 weeks this Winter.

Andégo is currently seeking host families for these visitors who are enthusiastic about meeting a new friend from a different language and culture.

Hosting a Spanish teen is a wonderful cross-cultural opportunity for any family who might be interested. Knowledge of Spanish is not a requirement to host, neither is having a teen in the home. All families are welcome to apply! Students arrive on Thursday, January 14th and depart on Friday, February 12th from PDX International Airport in Portland, OR.

Please email Tia at tia@andego.org with any inquiries or apply to host a Spanish student by clicking on this link: Apply to Host.
